If buying for an individual, the first initial would be the first initial of their first name, the second initial would be the first initial of their last name, and the third initial would be the first initial of their middle name. For example, if the name is Mary Kate Olson, list the initials as mOk.
If buying for a heterosexual couple, the first initial would be the first initial of the women's name the second initial would be the first initial of their last name, and the third initial would be the first initial of the man's name. For example, if the couple's names are Mary and George Smith, list the initials as mSg.
If buying for a same sex couple, list the order in they way that you naturally say their first names. If you cannot decide the order, list them alphabetically. For example if the couple's names are Andrew and Matthew James, list the initials as aJm.
